    Primary Education

    Pre-schooling starts at the age of 7 to 12 years. The academic year duration is from June till March. The first six years of education is compulsory in the Philippines. Students learn basic subjects like maths, science, English, Filipino and social science. Apart from these, it also provides facilities to study other extracurricular subjects such as arts, music, physical education, and health. English and Filipino are the mediums of instruction. The Philippines has both a private and public education system for children. Middle education is also a part of primary academics. They are governed by:

    Secondary Education 

    Secondary education is known as Paaralang Secondary. It comprises four grades for both private and public schools.

    The subjects that the students must learn are:

    • First-year – Filipino 1, Algebra1, integrated science, English 1, Philippine History
    • The second-year- Filipino 2, Algebra 2, Biology, English 2, Asian history
    • The third-year – Filipino 3, Geometry, Chemistry
    • Fourth-year – Filipino 4, Calculus, Trigonometry, Physics, Literature, Economics.

    There are also optional subjects like Health, Music, Arts and many more. 

    Students get training for technical education from vocational studies. Diploma course durations vary from a few weeks to two-year. 

    Admissions for the diploma don’t need any entrance tests. Enrolment depends on performance in high school education.

    Some Universities offer tertiary education having a wide array of undergraduate degree programs to students. Public Education provides an environment wherein students get relatively good knowledge in different fields. Furthermore, English remains the medium of instruction.
